At noon on the 6th day of Tet (February 22nd), the aviation gateway to the Central region fell into local chaos when a drone (flycam) illegally entered the airspace of Da Nang airport, causing many flights to fly around waiting, seriously affecting the schedules of thousands of passengers on the peak day at the end of the holidays.

The incident occurred from about 11:45 to 12:15 on the 22nd. 2. Functional forces at Da Nang International Airport suddenly discovered a flycam operating illegally in the northern runway area. To ensure absolute safety for flights, the air traffic control agency had to order an emergency suspension of runway operations.
According to records from the Flightradar24 application, a series of flights from Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and domestic routes had to fly many circles in the sky, unable to land. Until after 12:45 pm, the operating pace gradually returned to normal but caused a chain reaction effect of flight delays for dozens of other flights on the peak day of the 6th day of Tet.

Exchanging about the incident, representatives of Da Nang International Airport expressed deep concern about the recurrence of flight safety violations:
The intrusion of unmanned aerial vehicles into the airport airspace is not only a violation of the law but also a direct threat to the lives of hundreds of passengers on each flight. A small collision between a flycam and an aircraft engine at high speed can lead to unpredictable tragedies. We strongly condemn this lack of awareness, especially on the peak day of serving people returning home for Tet.
This is not the first time Da Nang airport has been "miserable" because of flycams. In November 2025, a similar device flew close to the runway at a distance of only 60-70m, disrupting 19 flights.
Da Nang airport is located in the heart of the city, the fact that people use spontaneous flycams to film and take photos without understanding the regulations is becoming a flight safety threat.
Faced with this situation, aviation experts and functional agencies proposed a group of drastic solutions such as: Installing additional detection sensor systems and electronic suppression devices (wave jammers) to immediately "neutralize" strange flying devices entering the no-fly zone. Tighten the licensing of flycam flights in urban areas, especially areas near airports such as Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Cam Le...
In particular, it is necessary to prosecute criminal liability instead of just administratively sanctioning those who let flycams affect national aviation security.
