Over the past years, Dong Hy district has implemented synchronous solutions with the goal of realizing poverty reduction policies. Vocational training programs, social security, and infrastructure construction have been promoted with the goal of improving people's lives.
According to the report on the results of the review of poor and near-poor households in 2024 by the People's Committee of Dong Hy district, there are currently 1,341 poor households (accounting for 5.5%) and 1,084 near-poor households (accounting for 4.45%). In 2024, the locality strives to reduce the multidimensional poverty rate by 2.12%/year, corresponding to a reduction of 387 poor households and 130 near-poor households.

To effectively implement poverty reduction policies, Dong Hy district has stepped up propaganda to change awareness and arouse people's will to rise up.
Implement poverty reduction support policies, focusing all resources from National Target Programs. Support people through access to social services in health, education, housing, clean water, and environmental sanitation. At the same time, implement vocational training. Promote job referral activities, creating conditions for trained workers to find jobs at home and abroad.
Hop Tien is one of the typical communes in Dong Hy district that synchronously implements poverty reduction policies. The commune currently has over 1,800 households and more than 8,000 people, of which nearly 70% are Dao ethnic people. In 2024, Hop Tien commune will develop a plan to reduce the overall multidimensional poverty rate in the commune from 26.05% to below 13%. The core point in the poverty reduction policy in Hop Tien commune is to create livelihoods, aiming to provide fishing rods to help people sustainably reduce poverty.
Ms. Ly Thi Hai (Dong Hy district) said that her family used to be poor and had a very difficult life.
"Thanks to support from poverty reduction policies, the family's life has improved significantly. Through job referral programs, both husband and wife have now found jobs at a cooperative right in the area, and the eldest son is currently working abroad.
The programs are really useful, helping people in difficult circumstances access channels with job needs. In particular, providing livelihoods will help reduce poverty sustainably, avoiding falling back into poverty. Many households have benefited and improved their lives from these policies," said Ms. Hai.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Chinh - Chairman of Hop Tien Commune People's Committee said that since 2023, the commune has received tens of billions of VND from the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas. Over 4km of inter-hamlet concrete roads have been opened, connecting trade with national and provincial highways. This is a condition to help create momentum for local development.
"The whole commune has formed dozens of economic models of integrated farms, gardens, forests and livestock. To help promote sustainable poverty reduction, the goal is to create jobs and livelihoods for local people.
Investment in infrastructure development, livelihood diversification and replication of poverty reduction models in the area are also always focused on implementation," the leader added.
