Dak Lak - Lak district has achieved many achievements in poverty reduction associated with vocational training, contributing to improving people's lives and promoting socio-economic development.

Vocational training for thousands of workers

According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Lak district (Dak Lak province), in 2024, vocational training and job connection inside and outside the province have been effectively implemented.

As a result, more than 1,500 students in the area have received vocational training. The training focuses on essential fields such as construction, farming, animal husbandry, cooking, agricultural machinery repair, civil electricity, truck and bus driving, and tour guides...

Thanks to that, Lak district has created jobs for about 1,900 rural workers, exceeding the set plan by 118.75%.

Also in 2024, the poverty rate in the district is estimated to decrease by 3.73%, reaching 106.57% of the target. In particular, in particularly difficult communes, the poverty rate among ethnic minorities is estimated to decrease by 5.72%.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Head of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Lak district, said: "The implementation of Sub-project 3, Project 5 under the National Target Program 1719 in the area has received consensus from all levels, sectors and people, especially ethnic minorities".

According to Mr. Chien, capital from this program has been used to develop infrastructure, provide vocational training and create on-site jobs for workers.

Thereby, contributing to improving conditions to ensure the quality of teaching and learning for vocational education institutions in difficult areas, where there are many ethnic minorities.

"Resources from the program also help innovate operations, strengthen and develop the district's Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center. We are also focusing on improving vocational training capacity for the community and commune-level officials," Mr. Chien added.

Specific instructions are needed.

The implementation of Sub-project 3, Project 5 (under the National Target Program 1719) in Lak district still faces many difficulties. Many contents require multiple consultations, taking a lot of time, especially in building a management mechanism and organizing program implementation.

The appraisal and online bidding documents for repairing items and purchasing equipment for vocational training also take up a significant amount of processing time. In addition, the issuance of management documents from the Central and provincial levels is slow and inconsistent, directly affecting the progress of implementation and disbursement of capital for projects and sub-projects.

Vice Chairman of Lak District People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, said: "In 2025 and the upcoming medium-term period, the District People's Committee will step up inspection, supervision, and improve the effectiveness of program implementation, ensuring that there is no negativity or waste."

According to Mr. Tu, in the coming time, the authorities will strengthen propaganda and mobilization, overcome the mentality of dependence, and arouse the will of self-reliance and self-improvement to escape poverty of ethnic minorities.

"The district recommends that the Central Government soon adjust and supplement documents guiding the implementation of Program 1719 in the direction of unifying the subjects and norms between decrees, decisions and circulars; there should be specific and complete instructions so that localities can easily implement projects and sub-projects" - Mr. Tu shared.
