On August 24, according to a summary report from the Quang Ninh Provincial Civil Defense Command, the impact of storm No. 4 and prolonged heavy rain has caused landslides on many roads in the province.
About 10,000m3 of soil and rock slid down provincial roads and inter-communal roads. Immediately after the landslide occurred, localities mobilized forces and vehicles to organize clearing. Up to now, traffic has basically been cleared.
The Construction sector has requested road management units to arrange on-duty forces at key locations such as Bai Chay bridge, Ha Long - Van Don expressway and spillways.
Heavy rain also caused about 100m of Cay Thau dyke surface, belonging to Dien Cong 3 area, Uong Bi ward, to overflow on the evening of August 23, posing a risk of incidents.

The Provincial Military Command and local authorities mobilized more than 300 people, one excavator, 10 trucks and 5,000 sacks to reinforce the dyke line, preventing water from overflowing the dyke surface. By about 2 am on August 24, the reinforcement was basically completed, ensuring safety for the dyke line.
Storm No. 4 and heavy rain also knocked down about 50m of river embankment under construction, and 4 low-voltage power poles in Ba Che commune.
The whole province has not recorded any deaths due to natural disasters. One person was injured due to landslides in Bai Chay ward, currently in stable health. Localities have relocated 254 households with 866 people from dangerous areas to safe places.
The total damage caused by storm No. 4 and heavy rain in Quang Ninh province is initially estimated at about 17 billion VND.
From 7 pm on August 21 to 7 am on August 24, Bai Chay recorded a total rainfall of 695.7mm; Cua Ong 502.3mm; Quang Ha 437.5mm. From August 24, rainfall in the province has decreased.
The Quang Ninh Provincial Civil Defense Command requests localities to continue to review areas at risk of landslides on hillsides, along waste dumps, slopes and embankments; urgently collect soil and rocks drifting into residential areas, traffic roads and ensure traffic at landslide locations.
