In the early morning of June 1st, many streets under construction under the local flood control project had their barriers removed, the ground was restored, and asphalt was partially paved to serve people's travel needs.
Information from Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung - Director of Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center (Hanoi Department of Construction), on the night of May 31 and early morning of June 1, items under the local flood control project on Le Phung Hieu, Ly Thai To streets (section passing through the Opera House and the State Bank), Phan Chu Trinh, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hai Ba Trung, Trang Thi, Quan Su... have completed the installation of sewer systems and basically returned the ground.
In which, on Phan Chu Trinh and Quan Su streets, there are currently about 100m that have not been paved with the first asphalt layer. This volume of work is expected to be completed on the night of June 1. In addition, 4 manholes on the route are still under construction, enclosed or placed with 2cm thick steel plates to ensure safety while waiting for concrete to reach design strength.
According to Mr. Hung, the above-mentioned streets have now had barriers removed, creating favorable conditions for vehicle traffic.
For Quang Trung street, a road about 1,000m long is being constructed in a rolling manner. Previously, about 400m of road surface had been restored. On the night of May 31, the construction unit continued to pave about 150m more in the areas intersecting with Tran Nhan Tong, Hai Ba Trung and Tran Hung Dao streets.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung said that on the day and night of June 1st, the construction unit will complete the installation of the sewer system and build the remaining 7 manholes. Site clearance will be carried out with sand, gravel and the first asphalt layer, ensuring technical requirements and project quality.
However, the construction process generates a large volume of mud and waste that needs to be collected and transported. Therefore, the investor plans to extend it by about 3 days to complete environmental sanitation work on the remaining approximately 450m.
Currently, Hanoi is simultaneously implementing 10 flood control projects in the area. Among them, projects invested by the Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center are being implemented from March 2026.
To ensure progress, the investor has requested contractors to mobilize maximum manpower, equipment and construction vehicles. However, recently, many heavy rains appeared in Hanoi, causing localized flooding in some areas, forcing units to temporarily stop construction to focus on handling and ensuring drainage capacity.
The investor affirmed that he will maximize favorable weather conditions to accelerate the progress of projects, strive to complete them according to plan, and at the same time minimize the impact on people's lives and travel.
