This is one of 80 key projects that were started and inaugurated on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The groundbreaking ceremony was broadcast live and online to the bridge points of 80 projects in all three regions of the North - Central - South.
With a convenient connection between Hanoi Capital and Bac Ninh Province and Hai Phong City, the project is an important gateway for Bac Ninh to connect with major domestic and international economic centers, especially in the context that the province is implementing the goal of developing high-tech industry and logistics.
The project contributes to significantly reducing the load on Noi Bai airport, improving air transport capacity for the Northern region; meeting the increasing demand for air transport.
The project is built according to the standards of an international airport level 4E, with a model of shared civil and defense security; oriented to develop according to the new generation smart airport model, synchronously applied.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, emphasized that Gia Binh International Airport is a national key project, of international stature and plays a particularly important role in the overall planning system of airports and airports nationwide.
The project contributes to expanding development space, making Bac Ninh and localities in the Northern region a new growth pole.
According to the Minister of Public Security, in addition to civil aviation activities, Gia Binh International Airport is also planned and arranged with the People's Public Security Air Regiment with modern and synchronous means of transport, ensuring regular operations, combat readiness, contributing to strengthening national defense.
General Luong Tam Quang affirmed that he will ensure the project is completed on schedule, safely and with quality. By the end of 2026, it will be put into initial operation to serve the APEC 2027 Summit.
Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province pay attention to coordinating the implementation of surrounding transport infrastructure projects, synchronously completing the route connecting the airport with Hanoi in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister to contribute to the exploitation, effective promotion and making Gia Binh International Airport truly a key, model project, reaching international standards.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, General Luong Tam Quang presented gifts to representatives of investors and local authorities in the Gia Binh International Airport project area.
Leaders of Bac Ninh province presented gifts and encouraged households with outstanding achievements in site clearance.
