On the morning of July 9, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dao Anh Tu - Director of the Soc Son Temple Tourist Area - Relic Management Center said that the landslide situation occurred from Typhoon Yagi (September 2024).
The landslide and landslide slope area is located in the low mountain area towards Thuong Temple, related to construction items in the outer area.
Therefore, this situation does not affect the sightseeing of tourists.
City departments and agencies have inspected and are developing handling plans" - Mr. Tu informed.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Bui Duy Cuong has just signed and issued a decision on announcing an emergency situation for natural disasters in the landslide and landslide slope area at Soc Son Temple Cultural Tourist Area, Soc Son commune.
According to information from the City People's Committee, at the first location, many cracks stretch along the top of the taluy with an average width of 1m to 1.3m. These cracks are tending to expand, linking together to form a landslide arc of about 98m long. The entire soil and rock mass above is moving in the direction from the top down to the foot of the taluy, deforming the natural terrain. Surveying the taluy slope about 30m - 40m high shows that many locations of localized landslides, the soil and rock layer is decomposed, many green trees are leaning and will continue to slide into the regulating lake if heavy rain occurs.
In the second location, there has been a phenomenon of localized landslides of the taluy slope and erosion of the slope surface. Due to rainwater concentrated overflowing on the slope, wasting the topsoil layer, causing vegetation to peel off and exposing the weak weathered soil layer below. Many green trees have exposed roots, soil and rocks slid down the foot of the slope adjacent to the internal road serving the management, operation and sightseeing and worship activities of tourists.
In order to prevent and minimize damage caused by natural disasters and landslides, the City People's Committee requests the immediate implementation of urgent measures such as closely monitoring weather conditions, natural disasters, developments in landslide areas and surrounding areas, promptly detecting arising situations to proactively plan to ensure safety and handle and respond according to the "4 on-site" motto.
Along with that, implement appropriate reinforcement measures to minimize the development of cracks and landslides.
Notice, plant warning signs, stretch ropes, assign guards, guide people to absolutely not move through dangerous landslide areas.
Strengthen propaganda and guidance for people and tourists to recognize signs, risks and landslide prevention and control skills and measures. Mobilize all resources to handle landslide and unsafe incidents in the area to ensure efficiency and economy according to current regulations.
Soc Son Commune People's Committee regularly monitors developments, weather conditions, natural disasters, and incidents in the area to proactively implement response measures and handle incidents according to the "4 on-site" motto such as reinforcing, excavating tarpaulins, unloading,... when situations arise according to the authority of the Commune People's Committee.
Along with that, coordinate with departments and branches to survey and assess the current situation, propose long-term handling plans, and at the same time organize the implementation of urgent projects and works according to the regulations of the City People's Council.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with Soc Son Commune People's Committee to advise the Chairman of the City People's Committee to issue a Decision announcing the termination of the natural disaster emergency situation; closely monitor weather conditions, natural disasters and possible incident developments, coordinate and guide Soc Son Commune People's Committee to organize the first hour of handling according to the "4 on-site" motto, implement appropriate reinforcement measures.
