Regarding the operation of two motor vehicle registration centers in Son La province without a connection license, on January 9, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee - said that this is a long-standing existence, stemming from many objective and subjective reasons. The province's point of view is that operation must be in accordance with legal regulations, not allowing violations to prolong, but handling needs to have a roadmap, ensuring harmony between state management and practice.
Operating must be in accordance with legal regulations, it cannot be left like this forever. However, whether to stop operating or not must also be given to the unit for completion time, with specific milestones. If it cannot be implemented, it must be stopped," Mr. Tien emphasized.
The Department of Construction will preside over inviting relevant units, including two vehicle registration centers, to organize a working meeting to review all legal documents, traffic connection conditions and remaining contents.
Vehicle registration centers must report remedial plans, and at the same time commit to a roadmap for implementation.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reflected that two large vehicle registration centers in Son La have been operating for a long time even though they have not been licensed by competent authorities to connect traffic.
According to a report by Son La Provincial People's Committee, there are 2 vehicle registration centers operating for many years in the province but have not been licensed for connection.
Son La Motor Vehicle Registration Center (code 2601D), managed by Son La Transport Vehicle Inspection Joint Stock Company, located in Chieng Sinh ward and granted a Certificate of Motor Vehicle Inspection Activity in 2015 by the Vietnam Register.
From the beginning of 2023 to now, this center has inspected more than 62,000 vehicles, collected road use fees and fees of hundreds of billions of VND for the state budget.
However, at the time of commissioning, the connection location from the center to National Highway 6 at Km290+685 (P) has not yet been approved and licensed for construction by the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam (now the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam) and Road Management Zone I. This has lasted until July 2025 and has not been completed.
Similarly, Motor Vehicle Registration Branch 2603D in Van Ho commune, also belonging to Son La Transport Vehicle Inspection Joint Stock Company, was invested and built in 2016 and has currently inspected nearly 36,000 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the connecting intersection at Km177+100 National Highway 6 is not on the list of connecting points approved until 2030. At the same time, it has not been licensed for construction by competent authorities when the center goes into operation.
