The My A estuary area in Pho Quang ward, Duc Pho town has 373 large fishing vessels (15m or longer). However, for many years, ships have not anchored at My A port for 1/3, other ships have gone fishing and then returned to Da Nang fishing port the most, followed by Tinh Hoa fishing port (Quang Ngai city) and fishing ports in Binh Dinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri... The reason is that the channel of My A port has just narrowed due to silting.
Many local fishermen believe that if the My A estuary is not filled, departing from the My A estuary and returning here to sell fish will have many advantages, promoting the development of fisheries logistics and the development of fishermen's economy. However, because the estuary is not open, for many years, many local large-capacity fishing vessels have had to move incense to fishing ports in neighboring provinces to sell seafood and anchor. Fisherman Huynh Van Vu, residing in Pho Vinh ward, Duc Pho town, expressed: "We have petitioned many times, but we don't understand why the My A estuary is silted up and still cannot be dredged for water flow".

Not only My A gate, Dai gate in An Phu commune, Quang Ngai city was also filled with silt, there were about 150 fishing boats far from shore that could not go to sea at the beginning of the year. According to Mr. Pham Van Hung, a resident of An Phu commune, for about 10 years now, Dai Gate has been seriously filled with silt, and the channel has become increasingly narrowing. Therefore, many fishing vessels have to anchor at ports inside and outside the province, suffering from travel costs, holding vessels and insecurity...
Currently, the Dai Gate area is about 2km covered, from the entrance to the sea. The shallowest place when the tide rises is only 1.5m and the deepest is about 2m, so ships with a capacity of 30 CV or more cannot enter or exit Dai Gate.
According to Mr. Vo Khanh - Vice Chairman of An Phu Commune People's Committee, when the estuary is filled with silt, fishermen do not work effectively, fishing logistics services are also facing difficulties, many seafood processing facilities have to close due to lack of raw materials. The People's Committee of An Phu commune has recommended to all levels and sectors about dredging to clear the seawall channel; in the long term, it is necessary to soon invest in phase 2 of the Storm shelter area project combined with Co Luy fishing port to make fishermen operate more smoothly.
According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Sang - Vice Chairman of Duc Pho Town People's Committee, the locality has repeatedly petitioned the relevant agencies of Quang Ngai province, requesting additional funding to dredge the My A estuary. In May and June 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai province reported to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province about the situation of filling My A estuary and submitted a proposal to implement the dredging project to clear the flow of this estuary. The implementation period is from 2024 to 2025, with a budget of 3 billion VND. However, the project has not yet been implemented.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai province said that functional units are still carrying out procedures and processes to dredge and clear the flow of My A port.
