On August 16, it was noted that at the Canh Tang reservoir project (Yen Phu commune, Phu Tho province), the construction progress of the landscape, site improvement, lighting system... are being accelerated.
According to the Project Management Board, the lake is responsible for providing irrigation water for over 6,400 hectares of cultivated land of 13 communes in Lac Son and Yen Thuy districts (old Hoa Binh province) and adding 2.0m3/s of dry season water to the downstream.
In addition, irrigation water is provided for 2,500 hectares of agriculture in Thach Thanh (Thanh Hoa) and Lac Thinh Industrial Park (Yen Thuy District, old Hoa Binh Province) with an area of 200 hectares.
With a capacity of over 91 million m3; the main dam is built with soil 54.9m high, over 838m long; the secondary dam is 37.5m high, 131m long and the overflow is 1,150 m3/s, Canh Tang lake is known as the largest large-scale irrigation lake in the North, on a national scale, on par with large lakes such as Dau Tieng, Cua Dat, Ngan Truoi.
According to Mr. Bui Thanh Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Phu commune, Phu Tho province, during the construction process, the investor and the government organized the evacuation of 596 households in Yen Phu, Van Nghia, and Binh Ham communes. Of which, 574 households have moved to the new resettlement area.
Not only an irrigation project, Canh Tang Lake is also a "shield" against natural disasters, ensuring a stable water source, protecting production and the lives of tens of thousands of people in Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa provinces. At the same time, it opens up opportunities for tourism and service development on the lake surface and surrounding areas.
Currently, construction units are urgently completing the landscape items on the dam body; renovating the parking lot, expanding the road to the landscape area; planting trees, lighting systems on the main dam body; operating overflow - flooding; environmental sanitation..., Mr. Vu Minh Tuan, Head of Project Management Board 1.2, in charge of the Canh Tang Lake Project Unit Cluster said.
According to Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province Nguyen Huy Nhuan, the Canh Tang lake project is also a driving force for multi-sectoral development, from agriculture, industry, aquaculture to services, tourism.
Canh Tang Lake will be a new symbol of Phu Tho, the heart of the entire Muong Vang region, he emphasized.
The Canh Tang irrigation lake project has a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND, started construction in August 2019, in Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province (old), now Phu Tho province.
After 6 years of construction (3 years behind schedule), the project will be officially inaugurated and put into use at the end of August, on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
