Lao Cai - The case of a student dying while climbing a power pole to get bird nests sounded an alarm bell about the danger of unsafety for children before the summer vacation.

On May 14, Lao Cai Power Company informed about a serious electrical accident that occurred in Ta Tau village, Tram Tau commune.

Accordingly, at about 8:32 pm on May 13, specialized agencies received a signal of an incident at the 35kV line 379E12. 2.

Immediately after receiving it, Lao Cai Power Company arranged personnel to inspect the scene.

The preliminary cause was determined to be that the victim voluntarily climbed onto the power pole to get the bird's nest, violating the high voltage safety distance, leading to electric shock causing death.

At the scene, the location of power pole No. 92 of line 379E12. 2 is a structure consisting of 2 centrifugal concrete poles 12 m high, fully installed with warning signs and pole number plates in accordance with regulations.

The cause of the incident is being further investigated and clarified by local authorities.

To minimize electrical accidents, Lao Cai Power Company recommends that people absolutely do not climb on power poles or approach high-voltage power lines in any form.

In particular, during the time when students are preparing for summer vacation, parents, schools and local authorities need to strengthen propaganda and manage children not to perform dangerous acts such as climbing electric poles to get bird nests, flying kites near power lines, climbing on roofs, tall trees near power grid corridors...
