Lao Cai - Although only light rain appeared, many national highways and provincial roads in the area still recorded more than 2,700m3 of landslides of positive taluy and 162m of negative taluy.

On August 23, according to a quick report from the Road Maintenance Management Board (Lao Cai Provincial Department of Construction), for the past two days, some localities in the area have had light rain.

However, landslides still appear in many locations on the transportation system.

The total volume of soil and rock landslides on the positive slope is statistically about 2,708m3. Of which, national highways recorded about 1,371m3, concentrated on National Highway 4E, National Highway 4 and National Highway 279.

On local roads, the volume of landslides is about 1,337m³, occurring on routes DT.151B, DT.152, DT.160, DT.162, DT.163, DT.164, DT.165 and DT.170.

In addition, Lao Cai province recorded about 162m of negative taluy landslides, of which 96m are located on National Highway 4 and National Highway 4E; 66m occurred on DT. 152 and DT. 170 routes.

Especially, at DT. 174 from Hanh Phuc commune down to Nghia Lo ward, many points of soil and rock spilled onto the road, with a high risk of landslides.

Faced with the risk of landslides continuing to develop complicatedly, the Lao Cai Department of Construction has requested units to carry out regular maintenance work to arrange forces to be on duty at landslide locations.

At points at risk of unsafety, functional forces proceed to stretch ropes, erect barriers, place warning signs and guide vehicles to ensure safety for people when traveling.
