More than 40 workers sit on the sidewalk to rescue motorbikes after floods for people

Tuyen Quang - Many days of being submerged in floodwaters have caused serious damage to property and thousands of vehicles of people in the northern area of Tuyen Quang.

After the historic flood caused by the circulation of storm No. 10, many areas in Ha Giang City (old) were submerged in water. When the floodwaters receded, many people's properties and vehicles were severely damaged.

While people are struggling after the flood, in the Cay Xanh Park area (Place 26/3 , Ha Giang 1 Ward), a temporary car repair shop has appeared. Opened on October 4, more than 40 workers are working hard to repair cars for free to help people stabilize their lives.

From morning to night, people rush to bring their vehicles to this area for repairs. Hundreds of vehicles were gathered here in the hope of soon resuming operations after many days of being soaked in water. The skilled workers each take on a part of the job. Some took off the machines, some cleaned, replaced the oil, checked the brakes, lights, horns... All were urgent to return the vehicles to people for use.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hau - the owner of a motorbike shop in Bac Quang commune said: "Witnessing the situation of people in flooded areas facing many difficulties, we could not sit still. After losing their motorbikes, many families considered it a loss of means of livelihood. Therefore, we decided to organize free car repairs together. The work is hard, but being able to help people travel conveniently is the greatest joy".

According to Mr. Hau, after more than 2 days of operation, nearly 1,000 motorbikes have been received. Of which, more than 300 were inspected, repaired and handed over to the vehicle owner.

According to Mr. Doan Van Chung (owner of Chung Motor store, Bac Quang commune), when he moved here, his store and others had to temporarily suspend operations. The group members also paid some additional expenses but everyone was happy.

Due to the long time spent soaking in flood water, most motorbikes could not start. Workers focus on processing buckets, wind filters and engine oil. After a few days, the driver should take the car to the store for in-depth maintenance to ensure it is not damaged later.

Free vehicle repair activities also receive the cooperation of many businesses providing replacement components and electric wires. Each motorbike has been soaked in water for many days through the hands of skilled workers who have been operating normally.

Mr. Ho Huu Hanh (Ha Giang 1 ward) said that after 2 days of soaking in water, it seemed that the car had been repaired. However, thanks to the enthusiastic support of the workshop, the car has been repaired and is operating normally.

"I drive a motorbike taxi, so motorbikes are like fishing for rice, if they are severely damaged like this, the repair will cost a lot. Not to mention, after this flood, it is difficult to find a place to repair it, let alone pay for it for free.

It is really touching, the free car repair to help people at this time is a very meaningful action", Mr. Hanh said.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huyen (Ha Giang 2 ward), the group of workers is very enthusiastic and dedicated. People are bringing their vehicles out for repair day by day.

"After the storm and flood, humanity is nurtured through such actions. In the midst of the chaos, everyone together overcomes difficulties and soon returns to normal life," said Ms. Huyen.
