The project to expand the specialized road for freight transportation in the area of landmark 1088/2 - 1089 Huu Nghi international border gate - was approved by the People's Committee of Lang Son province under Decision No. 1909/QD-UBND dated August 28, 2025.
This project belongs to Group B, with a total investment of nearly 536 billion VND, the Lang Son Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is assigned as the Investor of this project.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the Lang Son Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board recently announced an invitation for bidding for Package No. 02: EC Package: Survey, construction drawing design, estimate, site clearance deposit, BIM information model; Construction and installation of works (including contingency costs of 8.77%) - of the project.
The above mixed package was widely bid online, priced at more than 500 billion VND from the provincial budget and the central budget (central reserve capital in 2024 and public investment capital). The bid closing date is September 27, 2025.
In the coming time, after Package No. 02 has the results of contractor selection, the construction unit will expand the specialized road for goods transportation in the area of landmark 1088/2-1089 Huu Nghi international border gate - in Hoang Van Thu commune, Lang Son province.

According to the project documents that the reporter exploited at the National Bidding Network System, Package No. 02 will build a level II traffic project ( bridge, road), starting point Km0 at the Vietnam - China border, the area of Landmark 1088/2 - 1089; the end point at Tan Thanh Bus Station. Design speed 50km/h.
The cross-section scale is according to the standards for a grade III road. Expanding the existing road to 8 lanes with a width of 43.5m - 51m, connecting to Tan Thanh bus station.
Specifically, the section from Km0 to Control Station No. 1, about 200m long: Design with a scale of 8 lanes with a road surface width of 43.5 - 51m (the reaching area to China has a road surface width of 43.5m; at Control Station No. 1, it is 51.0m).
The section from Control Station No. 1 to Tan Thanh Bus Station consists of 2 branches: The newly built section is about 724.47m long with a overpass design, with a scale of 8 lanes with a width of 43.5m connecting directly to Tan Thanh Bus Station; the section on the old and current road is about 491.4m long and is renovated to suit the new road connecting to Tan Thanh Bus Station.
Along with that, the project will make the most of old and still good works; renovate and rebuild drainage works, protection works, and traffic safety works in accordance with the scale of road supply; the power supply and lighting system on the entire route and border gate area will be invested in synchronous construction.
The investment goal of this project is to ensure conditions for traffic connection infrastructure: pilots to build smart border gates on the specialized road for goods transportation in the 1119 - 1120 route and the specialized road for goods transportation in the 1088/2 - 1089 route of the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan International Border Gate (China).
At the same time, it contributes to building Huu Nghi international border gate to become a "model border gate", the most advanced road border gate in ASEAN developed based on the application of high technology, with a modern road transport system.
