Basic sand is sufficient, stone is still lacking
Mr. Hoang Quang Tam - representative of the contractor said that on the component project 2 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway section passing through Can Tho, the unit is implementing 4 bidding packages, including: XL11, XL13, XL14 and XL22.

For package XL11, the bridge and intersection sections are basically completed; the route section has been 50% loaded in phase 1, the remaining items are being urgently deployed. Package XL13 has completed filling and 90% loading in phase 1; package XL14 has completed 100% loading in phase 1. Package XL22 has gathered materials and supplies.
Regarding materials, Mr. Tam added that the sand source has been fully allocated by the investor. For stone, Antraco mine is currently only supplying about 25%, the rest is waiting to be allocated. When the materials are fully supplied, the contractor will accelerate construction, mobilize more manpower, machinery, and equipment, and take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Dang Son - representative of Ngoc Bao Trading Construction Co., Ltd., the construction unit, said that the previous difficulty was mainly sand sources. Because Can Tho does not have sand sources to meet project needs, contractors have to mobilize from neighboring provinces.
Up to now, the sand source has been fully allocated, with about 200,000 m3 from Vinh Long and 200,000 m3 from Dong Thap, basically meeting the current construction needs. When the sand source is supplied stably, the contractor will focus on filling and loading phase 1 and continue to deploy phase 2.
If the sand supply is even, the unit will ensure progress," Mr. Son affirmed.
However, the source of stone is still lacking. The contractor requested to continue to be supplemented with stone from the Antraco mine so that it can accelerate the construction of the pavement structure and subsequent items.
Mobilizing machinery and manpower to compensate for progress
According to the report of the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (PMB), component project 2 has 4 main construction packages and 1 traffic safety system package reaching about 3,835 billion VND, equivalent to 61.38% of the construction contract value.
The total demand for sand filling and leveling materials according to the construction contract is about 5.121 million m3 of loose sand blocks. The source has been identified at about 5.279 million m3. Currently, about 3.305 million m3 is being exploited for the project.

For the demand for stone material for construction, it is about 1.041 million m3; of which, about 0.282 million m3 has been gathered for the project and has been used. The volume of stone that has identified the source is 0.353 million m3, and the remaining volume that has not yet identified the source is about 0.62 million m3.
Informing reporters, Mr. Dang Hoang Vinh - Head of Project Management Department 1 said that component project 2 had encountered many difficulties in terms of material sources, especially filling sand in the early stages of implementation. However, so far, the sand source has basically been ensured in reserves for contractors to increase and bring to the construction site.

When the material source is guaranteed, the investor will request contractors to increase the bringing of sand and stone to the construction site to compensate for the progress. At the same time, mobilize more machinery, manpower, increase shifts, increase crews and open more construction teams, ensuring the project reaches the finish line on schedule," Mr. Dang Hoang Vinh said.
According to Mr. Dang Hoang Vinh, currently, about 80-100 construction fronts are concentrated throughout the project, depending on the time.
