On April 21, 2026, Ha Thach embankment section corresponding to Km64+140 - Km64+740 of the left Thao river dike, belonging to Phu Ha area, Phong Chau ward, Phu Tho province - suffered serious subsidence and landslides, threatening the safety of property and lives of over 10 households.
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the first days of June, the property of households has been moved to a safe place. Many houses have become uninhabitable due to cracks, subsidence, tiled walls, broken bricks and tiles; small cracks have also appeared in the walkways in the area...
Currently, Phong Chau Ward People's Committee continues to maintain warnings and regularly closely monitor the diễn biến of incidents. Along with that, the government has developed a plan to be ready to evacuate people to safe places.

In the early days of the incident, a resident was seriously injured while moving property out of the dangerous area. Many houses and auxiliary works of households were affected. Total estimated damage is about 19 billion VND.
Mr. Vu Dinh Thinh - a resident of Phong Chau ward - shared: "The landslide section adjacent to the dike road leading to the old Phu Tho town center, many residents live along this road. When landslides occur, the whole area is worried. Hopefully the state will soon build embankments to protect the dike".
On June 5, 2026, Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1797/QD-UBND on Urgent Construction Order for the incident of subsidence and landslide of Ha Thach embankment section corresponding to Km64+140 - Km64+740 of the left Thao river dike, Phong Chau ward.

According to the issued order, the unit assigned to be the emergency project investor is the Sub-Department of Irrigation and Water Resources (under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province).
The project's objective is to ensure the safety of dyke works, meet the requirements of flood prevention, safety of lives and property of people, the left Thao river dyke (and National Highway 2D) and other infrastructure works in the area.
Regarding the emergency incident remediation plan, the construction unit will build a foot embankment line made of loose-release rock creating a counter-pressure mechanism combined with stone dragon carpet to prevent landslides, with a total treatment length of about 600m.
The estimated implementation cost is 20 billion VND from the emergency dike incident handling capital in 2026 managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Construction completion time is before December 30, 2026. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is the unit that receives assets after the project is completed.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Sub-Department of Irrigation and Water Resources to self-determine all work in investment and construction activities to organize the implementation of urgent projects to ensure progress and quality and be responsible for deciding on:
Assign organizations and individuals with sufficient capacity and experience to immediately carry out surveying, designing, and appraising construction design work when requested, construction and other necessary tasks serving emergency construction. The order of implementation of steps meets the requirements of the emergency construction order.
At the same time, carry out surveying, preparing, and completing economic - technical report dossiers; completing construction completion dossiers according to regulations; agreeing on the scale of construction solutions with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to ensure stable, effective and economical implementation.
