On the morning of April 10, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuong Duong District (Nghe An) Dinh Hong Vinh said that the local government and people are working together to overcome the consequences of the hail and thunderstorms.
On September 9, in Tam Hop commune, the hail started at around 3pm, lasting for 30 minutes. According to Mr. Nguyen Phi Thanh - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, 16 houses in the two border villages had their roofs blown off, roofing panels blown off, and canvas blown off with damage ranging from 60 - 70%. Many houses had holes in their roofs due to dense rocks falling, with balls as big as a thumb.
I have never seen such a big hail in the area, Mr. Thanh shared. Immediately afterwards, border guards, police, militia and people in the villages coordinated to temporarily overcome the situation to stabilize their lives and production. The local government is also urgently counting the damage and reporting to the district.

In Tam Quang commune, thunderstorms and hail occurred about 1 hour before, causing many houses and classrooms at schools to have their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. The authorities and functional forces have urgently inspected the scene, supporting people to overcome the consequences.
According to specialized agencies, the seasonal change from March to May is the time when hail often appears in the mountainous areas of the Western Nghe An.
Local authorities recommend that people proactively take precautions and limit outdoor labor, especially in mountainous areas and streams when there are signs of extreme weather.
