On November 18, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Long - Head of Urban Management Department of Tuyen Quang city said that recently the locality has deployed to overcome the landslide and rolling rocks on the road from Tan Trao to Den Cam.
"In June 2024, due to the impact of prolonged rains, some areas of the positive slope were eroded. The city has directed units to inspect, repair, and handle rocks that have filled the road surface and longitudinal ditches to ensure drainage.
"For landslide locations on the roadbed, ropes have been stretched and warning signs have been placed to ensure safety," said Mr. Long.
According to the Head of the Tuyen Quang Urban Management Department, the project has a high slope, many locations where rocks were blasted during construction still have aftershocks, and the soil and rocks are cracked and scattered. The soil and rocks on the slope are still unstable, combined with prolonged rain leading to an increased risk of landslides.
Recently, the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang city has also directed units to review, develop a plan to overcome and clear landslides to ensure traffic. String ropes and put up danger warning signs to ensure safety at corners with limited visibility. Dredge ditches with sediment causing clogged drains. Up to now, the repair work has been completed, ensuring convenient and safe traffic.
Also according to Mr. Long, due to the specific terrain and geology in the Dum mountain area, in the coming time, the unit will continue to direct regular road inspections; promptly detect and handle, clear sewers to ensure drainage, and prevent soil and rocks from spilling onto the road surface.
In the long term, the City People's Committee will balance and arrange funding sources or submit to the Provincial People's Committee for additional support to handle landslide locations, maintain and repair works annually according to regulations.
As Lao Dong reported, the road from Tan Trao to Cam Temple (Tuyen Quang city) is nearly 12km long and costs more than 147 billion VND from a loan from the World Bank under the Northern Mountainous Urban Program. The project is being constructed by Hoang Dan Investment and Construction Company Limited.
Put into use since the end of 2022, the road often experiences landslides and falling rocks, posing potential safety risks.
