On the afternoon of November 5, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province Nguyen Khac Ha directly inspected the storm prevention and control work in Thanh Dat residential group (Nam Nha Trang ward) - an area where a serious landslide occurred in 2018, killing 11 people.

Thanh Dat residential group, also known as Nui hamlet, located on the edge of Hon Ro, has been formed spontaneously for decades.
This area has hundreds of temporary houses with unstable corrugated iron roofs on steep slopes, mixed with tangled electrical wiring systems - posing a high risk of insecurity when the storm makes landfall.
Ms. Truong Thi Trang, a resident here, said that after the 2018 landslide, many households have returned to build temporary houses to live in because they have not been arranged another place to live.
Hearing that storm Kalmaegi was coming, my family was looking for a place to stay to avoid the storm, but we were very scared here, said Ms. Trang.
According to statistics, the Nui hamlet area currently has more than 185 households with about 745 people, most of whom are freelance workers, with many difficulties in life.
Faced with the high risk of direct impact of storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi), Mr. Nguyen Khac Ha requested the Nam Nha Trang ward government to urgently notify and evacuate all households in the danger zone; closely monitor the development of storms and floods to proactively plan enforcement evacuation if necessary, ensuring the safety of people's lives.
He also noted that the authorities should coordinate with the people to dredge and clear sewers and streams, minimizing the risk of landslides during prolonged heavy rains.
In the long term, the People's Committee of Nam Nha Trang Ward is required to report to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province to promptly arrange resettlement for all households living in this dangerous area.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Chairman of Nam Nha Trang Ward People's Committee, said that the locality is planning to evacuate people on the morning of November 6, divided into two phases and completed before 12 noon on the same day.
"We have sent forces to each household to notify and mobilize people to gather their belongings, ready to coordinate in evacuation to ensure safety before the storm comes," said Mr. Minh.
