On January 9, Phong Nha Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri province) said that it had just coordinated with the Commune Police, the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the Center for Forest Protection and World Heritage (Khe Gat BVR Station) and Phong Nha Forest Protection Department to jointly receive 1 red-faced monkey individual.
The red-faced monkey, scientifically named Macaca arctoides, belongs to the list of endangered and rare animals of group IIB, weighing 2.8 kg. The animal was discovered straying into the house of the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (born 1997) and Ms. Vo Thi Kim Duyen (born 2000), both residing in hamlet 5 Xuan Trach, Phong Nha commune.
After completing the procedures according to regulations, the red-faced monkey individual was handed over to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Center for rescue, conservation and development of creatures for management, care and conservation.
