Recently, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province has adjusted the economic growth management plan for 2025. Compared to before, the goal of attracting 11.05 million visitors, an increase of 400,000 (including 1.2 million international visitors); the province strives for a total revenue from tourism of VND 28,500 billion, an increase of VND 500 billion.
To achieve the above goal, the provincial tourism industry focuses on developing plans to implement a number of projects for developing night tourism products; implementing projects approved by the province. Speed up the implementation of tourism infrastructure investment projects in U Minh Thuong, Hon Dat, Kien Luong districts..., and soon put them into operation to serve tourism development.
The Department of Tourism will coordinate with the Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center to develop a plan to implement a Kien Giang tourism marketing strategy. Linking tourism development cooperation between Kien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City, provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. Kien Giang will strengthen international cooperation in the tourism sector with foreign localities to proactively attract international tourists to the province. In which, it will support tourism businesses to develop diverse, high-quality tourism products, develop specialized tourism products by target group, propose a visa incentive policy of up to 180 days for foreign tourists... to attract tourists to the province.
Regarding the general tourism development direction of the province, the Provincial People's Committee continues to research and open a development direction for sea transportation to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, in which, priority is given to coastal transport routes connecting Phu Quoc, Ha Tien (Kien Giang) with Cambodia and Thailand to connect the southern coastal corridor tourism route. Exploiting and putting into good operation the coastal port and road system, developing specific tourism products.
After the Lunar New Year, Kien Giang still attracts a large number of visitors, especially Phu Quoc not only has domestic tourists but also continuously welcomes international groups.
In February 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 801,000 visitors, including over 196,000 international visitors, with total tourism revenue of more than VND 4,600 billion. Currently, tourism service establishments are busy preparing plans to welcome guests for the upcoming holidays, especially the April 30 holiday.
According to the leader of Phu Quoc City, the first Phu Quoc Traditional fish sauce festival in 2025 will be held at the provincial level. The festival has the theme "Jade Island Souls" scheduled to be held from April 28 to 30, 2025 at the Phu Quoc City Cultural and Sports Center.
Many special activities such as: Opening of the Festival Art Program; Exhibition of Phu Quoc fish sauce, fish sauce booth - setting a national record of 200 delicious dishes using traditional Phu Quoc fish sauce, introducing fish sauce products from local manufacturers; Exhibition of OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, local specialties and tourism potential; Culinary contest, cooking competition for professional and non-professional chefs, creative dishes using Phu Quoc fish sauce as main ingredients; Trade promotion conference and tourism stimulus Phu Quoc; Street wear festival and parade; Folk playground; Art and cultural festival program...
The city's leaders said that the locality is currently busy preparing for activities because the Festival is not only to honor and promote the value of national intangible cultural heritage but also an opportunity to make a good impression on agencies, units, businesses, entrepreneurs, people and visitors.
