On January 6, according to Lao Dong's source, the People's Committee of Lang Son province has just issued a decision approving the investment policy for the Project to clear bombs and explosives to serve socio-economic development in the province in the period 2025-2030, with a total investment of more than 90.4 billion VND.
The project aims to narrow the area of bomb and mine pollution left over from the war, ensure safety for people and create a clean land fund for development.
According to the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, the project is implemented with the goal of minimizing the risk of accidents caused by bombs, mines, and explosives; bringing land back to a safe state to serve production, socio-economic development, border patrol and protection, and the repatriation of martyrs' remains.
In terms of scale, the project will carry out the clearance of landmines and explosives within a scope of 0-3m from the natural surface, with a total area of about 1,400ha.
All bombs, mines, and explosives after being searched will be collected and destroyed in accordance with the law, ensuring absolute safety during construction.
The project belongs to group B, using capital from the central budget and local budget, with a total investment of 90.4 billion VND.
The project implementation locations are spread across many communes and towns of the province, including: Quoc Khanh, Quoc Viet, Khang Chien, Thuy Hung, Hoang Van Thu, Khuat Xa, Kien Moc, Mau Son, Cao Loc, Dong Dang, Ba Son, Tan Thanh and Chi Lang.
These are all areas that play an important role in economic development, border trade, national defense - security and people's lives.
Regarding progress, the project is divided into specific phases: in 2025-2026, investment preparation work is carried out; in 2027-2028, bomb and mine clearance construction is deployed; and in 2029, project finalization procedures are completed.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Lang Son Provincial Military Command to be the investor, responsible for organizing the project implementation in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Public Investment and related legal regulations.
At the same time, departments, branches and People's Committees of localities where the project is implemented are responsible for closely coordinating to ensure that the project is implemented on schedule, quality and safely.
