The People's Committee of Lang Son province has just issued Decision No. 1952/QD-UBND dated September 3, 2025, allowing the conversion of the purpose of using 4.74 hectares of forest to other purposes to implement the Trang Dinh 2 Hydropower Project invested by Tan Viet Bac Lang Son Hydropower Joint Stock Company.
The total area of purpose- change forests is 4.74 hectares, including 2.6 hectares of natural forest and 2.14 hectares of planted forest (0.95 hectares of production forest and 1.19 hectares of planted forest of production forest origin).
These forest areas are located in sub-areas 72_TD, 73, 74a_TD, 74b_TD, 83 in Quoc Viet commune and sub-area 189_VL in Thuy Hung commune, Trang Dinh district.
Accordingly, the total area of the Trang Dinh 2 hydropower project is 212.77 hectares, of which the forest area to be converted accounts for 4.74 hectares.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to update data on area, boundary and forest status in the State management dossier on land and forestry; at the same time, closely monitor and prevent the situation of taking advantage of changing purposes to destroy forests, encroach on land or illegally exploit.
The People's Committees of Quoc Viet and Thuy Hung communes are responsible for coordinating and regularly inspecting to prevent violations.
The investor, Tan Viet Bac Lang Son Hydropower Joint Stock Company, must carry out the conversion of forest use purposes in accordance with the approved location, boundary and area.
Previously, on August 11, 2025, the Lang Son Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund issued a document confirming that the investor had fulfilled its obligation to plant replacement forests according to regulations. This is one of the mandatory conditions for the project to be approved for converting forest area.
