Lao Cai - From the level of satisfaction with life to the environment and social security, many aspects of people's lives will be quantified through the survey.

According to the survey plan just issued by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, within 15 days, from September 1 to September 15, 20,700 households (equivalent to 5% of the total number of households in the province) will be selected to participate in the survey to assess the happiness index.

Households are distributed in 345 areas; each area selects 60 official survey households and 5 reserve households.

The information provider is the household head or household representative from 18 years of age or older. The investigator will go directly to each family to interview and enter information into the electronic survey form.

A noteworthy point is that the survey sample is stratified and rotated annually. In which, 50% of the sample area of the previous year is retained, and 50% of the new area is supplemented.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, this approach helps the survey results to be both inherited and reflect the changes in people's lives each year.

The content of this survey focuses on three major groups of issues including level of satisfaction with life, satisfaction with average life expectancy and assessment of the impact of the environment where people live.

In which, the level of satisfaction with life is considered in many aspects such as economic and material conditions, family and social relations, social security and welfare policies, social services as well as the operation of public authorities.

All data collected will be checked, accepted, cleaned and synthesized on the electronic system. Survey results will be synthesized and evaluated in November and announced before November 30.

In the period 2021-2025, the happiness index of people in the province reached 68.3%, an increase of more than 10% compared to 2020.

In 2026, Lao Cai strives for people's happiness index to reach 69%. Of which, the satisfaction index with life is about 58.9%; the satisfaction index with average life expectancy is 80.25%; the environmental impact assessment index at the place of residence reaches 68.5%.
