Lao Cai - The Nam Thi riverbank embankment is like a shield contributing to preventing landslides and protecting the safety of border traffic infrastructure is being completed.

The embankment line protecting the Nam Thi riverbank, the section from marker 104(2)+500m to marker 104(2)+3.800m in Lao Cai ward (old Lao Cai city), is entering the final completion phase.

Through investigation, the project has a total embankment length of about 1,772m, deployed along the Nam Thi border riverbank - an area of particular importance for national defense, security and disaster prevention and control.

The project is constructed by a joint venture of Hoang Nguyen Construction Investment One Member Co., Ltd. and Duc Tuan Construction Investment Co., Ltd. In which, Hoang Nguyen Company is responsible for the 1,112m long section, Duc Tuan Company is constructing 660m.

According to assessments by specialized agencies, the banks of the Nam Thi River have mainly degraded soil geology, poor adhesion, steep slopes, and are frequently strongly affected by currents, especially in the rainy and flood season.

Reality over the years shows that this area poses a high risk of landslides, directly threatening the safety of riverside residential areas and affecting two key traffic routes, National Highway 4D and National Highway 70 running through the area.

The investment in building the embankment not only aims to stabilize the flow and limit landslides but also as a shield to contribute to ensuring the safety of production and daily life of people along the Nam Thi River.

At the same time, the project also carries important significance in consolidating infrastructure in the border area, building a border line of peace, friendship, and long-term stability.

Recorded at the construction site on January 25, construction units are maintaining an urgent working schedule, focusing manpower and machinery to complete the final items.

Construction organization work is deployed flexibly, suitable to actual terrain and hydrological conditions. The investor regularly sends technical staff to closely monitor the site, ensuring the quality and progress of the project.

According to the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - the project investor, up to now, the construction volume of the entire project has reached about 99%, the main items are basically completed, and only a few small parts are technically complete.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Trong Chuyen - Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the project has a total investment of 225 billion VND, building a dyke line about 1,754m long along the Nam Thi River in the Vietnam - China border area.

This is a project of particularly important significance, both serving the task of disaster prevention and control, and directly linked to the requirements of protecting territorial sovereignty and ensuring safety for the key transportation infrastructure system of Lao Cai province.

To speed up progress and ensure continuous construction resources, the investor has requested contractors to organize multiple construction points, prioritizing handling key sections.

According to the plan, after completing the remaining items, the Nam Thi riverbank embankment will be accepted, handed over and put into use, contributing to protecting the safety of the border area, stabilizing people's lives and promoting local socio-economic development.
