On September 30, the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command established a Forward Command Headquarters located at the 1st Border Guard Squadron (Bac Trach Commune, Quang Tri Province), under the direction of the Rescue - Rescue Department, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the Military Region 4 Command and the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province.
Mr. Hoang Nam - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee was assigned to give general direction.
A light command post is at Border Guard Squadron 2 (Nam Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province).
The forces participating in the search at sea include 2 ships of the regular Militia Squadron with 40 officers, 6 boats of the Provincial Border Guard and 44 officers and soldiers. Ship SAR 631 of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 with 17 crew members was also mobilized for support.
In addition, hundreds of officers, soldiers, border guards, police and mobile militia along with many vehicles are urgently searching along the coast. The search area is spread at Gianh port, Cua Viet port, coastal waters and Con Co specialties.
Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 10, on September 28, 4 fishing boats from other provinces had an accident in the waters of Quang Tri province. Of which, 2 fishing boats sank and stalled in the Cua Viet port area (9 crew members safely brought to shore, 2 crew members missing), 2 fishing boats sank in Bac Trach commune (4 crew members safely brought to shore, 9 crew members missing).
As of 4:00 p.m. on September 30, the bodies of 3 crew members had been found, while 8 crew members were still missing.
