National Highway 3 (QL.3) through Bac Kan province has many steep passes, narrow and degraded roadbed and surface... so traffic accidents often occur; especially the section from Km 129 to Km 140.
At the end of 2023, the project to repair the roadbed and surface and handle unsafe traffic points on National Highway 3 was deployed, focusing on the sections Km 129 + 428.7 - Km 131 + 171.9; Km 131 + 900 - Km 133 + 881.2; Km 135 + 723.2 - Km 140 + 500.
This is a Group C project with a total investment of more than 55 billion VND, approved by the Department of Roads, to be implemented from the end of 2023. The project implementation period is 2 years. The Department of Transport of Bac Kan province is assigned as the Investor.
According to the reporter's records on September 23, after a temporary break due to floods, the work of repairing the road surface and removing black spots on National Highway 3 has resumed. Workers and machinery have been mobilized to reinforce and widen the road surface and curbs, combined with digging and widening the slope.
Mr. Ma Quang Sang - a worker at the project - said that the current work is mainly assembling and constructing ditches and drainage pipes, and the recent heavy rains have also caused disruptions. Currently, the weather is sunny so the work progress is speeding up.
According to Mr. Vu Van Sang - a bus driver on the Bac Kan - Thai Nguyen route, National Highway 3 through Cho Moi district is a nightmare for drivers because of frequent collisions and traffic accidents: "The road surface is narrow and there are many places with limited visibility, so every time I pass through here, I am very scared, especially when traveling at dusk, when collisions are likely to occur. When we learned that the road was being repaired and expanded, we drivers were very happy and hoped it would be completed soon to ensure safety when passing through here."
On September 25, speaking with reporters, Mr. Leng Van Chien - Director of the Department of Transport of Bac Kan province - said that the project to upgrade, repair and handle traffic safety points on National Highway 3 will be completed in 2024.
Previously, Highway 3 through Bac Kan province often had collisions and traffic accidents. The implementation of the above project will limit, minimize, and ensure safety for people and vehicles. At the same time, it will help improve local traffic infrastructure, facilitate travel and trade, thereby developing the local economy.
