Thai Nguyen - A series of public offices on the golden land of the city center are waiting to be relocated to make room for the trillion-dong project of a new urban area and a walking street.

As one of the key projects of Thai Nguyen province in the 2025 - 2027 period, the new urban area project and the city's central walking street are oriented to become a space for modern administrative, commercial and cultural connection.

The project is implemented on a land area of 66,443.8m2 in Trung Vuong ward (Thai Nguyen city).

The planning includes an 80m wide walking street with two sides of a row of high-rise buildings, connecting the landscape with Vo Nguyen Giap Square and provincial-level agencies; a 1-storey basement project combined with a parking lot, commercial services and a project to promote the value of provincial-level historical relics.

In the planning area, there are currently about 20 headquarters of agencies and units located on streets such as Hung Vuong, Nguyen Du, Doi Can, Nha Trang...

In particular, many headquarters have handed over the site or have moved to new workplaces such as the Provincial Women's Union, Provincial Youth Union, Thai Nguyen Provincial Labor Federation.

According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter in mid-June 2025, many headquarters on the central streets of Thai Nguyen City are still waiting to be demolished. Some have been closed, and signs have been removed.

The old provincial stadium is also being demolished to make way for the project's infrastructure construction.

When implemented and completed, the project is expected to contribute to creating a modern, synchronous urban appearance for the city center.

The walking street connecting with the square and cultural works will create a landscape highlight, while opening up a space for community activities, contributing to improving the quality of life and core urban values of Thai Nguyen City.

According to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, the goal of the project is to build a modern urban area with synchronous infrastructure, contributing to changing the face of the city center, effectively using public land and creating more space to organize cultural activities and events.

The demolition will be implemented in accordance with regulations, to ensure that the overall progress of the project is not affected.

Previously, Thai Nguyen province implemented phase 1 of the project from 2022 - 2024 with a budget of more than 120 billion VND, of which 115 billion VND is for site clearance.

On April 26, 2025, the Thai Nguyen Province Property Auction Service Center organized an auction of land use rights and assets attached to land. The starting price approved in Decision 797/QD-UBND is more than 1,337 billion VND.

After completing the auction, the project entered the construction phase. The authorities will continue to urge the relocation of the headquarters to soon implement the construction.
