At around 5:00 p.m. on September 28, a strong tornado appeared on Quan Lan Island, Van Don Special Zone.
The tornado occurred in just 2 - 3 minutes but caused some houses to have their roofs blown off, some fishing boats of fishermen to overturn and damage; many trees on the island were broken; 10 electric poles were knocked down, including 6 medium-voltage poles and 4 low-voltage poles, causing the entire Quan Lan area to lose power.
Immediately after the tornado passed, the People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone directed local forces to mobilize human resources and means to overcome the consequences, implementing the "4 on-site" motto to support people to soon stabilize their lives.
According to new information received from the leader of the People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone, Quang Ninh Power Company is currently sending people and equipment and materials to Quan Lan Island to handle the power grid problem, but currently, the weather conditions are big waves and strong winds.
According to the forecast, in unfavorable weather conditions, Quan Lan island may have a power outage for 1 to 2 days.
Currently, local authorities are actively coordinating with the electricity industry and related units to soon restore power supply.
