Tornado sweeps through kindergarten, teachers panic

A tornado swept through a kindergarten in the coastal area of ​​Quang Tri, causing no damage, but making teachers there worried.

On the afternoon of September 18, Mr. Vo Dac Hoa - Chairman of the People's Committee of Gio Linh district (Quang Tri province) said that due to the influence of low pressure that could strengthen into storm No. 4, there was heavy rain in the area in the early morning of the same day. A tornado appeared in Cua Viet town of Gio Linh district, but fortunately did not cause any damage.

Cua Viet Town Kindergarten (Cua Viet Town, Gio Linh District) was the place swept by the tornado.

Ms. Tran Thi Van - Principal of Cua Viet Town Kindergarten, recounted that at around 8:30 a.m. that same day, it was raining. When the school's teachers and staff were holding a conference for workers and employees, the wind was howling very strongly.

Suddenly, a tornado swept through for about 3 minutes, the school's metal roofs shook, leaves flew everywhere. Mrs. Van and the teachers were scared and sat still in the room.

In Ms. Van's office, a section of the ceiling was damaged by the tornado, and the trees in the school yard were tilted.

“The luckiest thing is that today the whole school is off, otherwise if we were to go to school at that time, we would have to do extracurricular activities in the yard. The low pressure and storm have not arrived yet, but there is a tornado like this, making the teachers at the school very worried. The school will reinforce the corrugated iron roofs to avoid damage,” said Ms. Van.

Mr. Mai Van Minh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Viet town said that after the tornado swept through, he went to check and luckily only the kitchen of one household had its roof blown off.

According to Mr. Minh, the mild tornado that occurred before the low pressure could become storm number 4 affecting the locality made people worried, so they were no longer subjective, but proactively reinforced their houses to avoid damage when the storm came.
