On the morning of October 29, Mr. Nham Xuan Sy - Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station - said that last night and early this morning, Quang Ngai province had widespread heavy rain. The possibility of landslides in the mountainous areas of Dong Truong Son is very high; major floods are forecast to appear on the Tra Khuc, Tra Bong, and Ve rivers in the afternoon and evening of October 29.

Also on the morning of October 29, Mr. Ho Ngoc Van - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tay Tra commune (Quang Ngai province) - said that a serious landslide had just occurred in the commune at Tra Xinh Health Station.
According to Mr. Van, at around 3am the same day, many blocks of soil from the mountain poured down into the health station area, sweeping away the entire parking lot and roof of the station.
At the time of the incident, there was an employee on duty in the health station; this person was able to run out safely.
At the scene, soil and rocks from the landslide overflowed into the area of Tra Xinh Medical Station. The entire parking lot and roof were pulled down and severely damaged. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties.

According to Mr. Bui Duc Thai - Head of the Quang Ngai Province Irrigation Department, floods have damaged 15 houses. In Ngoc Linh commune alone, due to flash floods and landslides that occurred on the morning of October 28, about 10 hectares of rice, coffee, macadamia... were buried and washed away.

On National Highways and provincial roads, there are more than 120 locations of landslides, soil and rocks spilling onto the road surface, filling the drainage ditches along the road. Currently, functional forces are making efforts to overcome landslides and soon reopen major routes.
