According to information from the Thuy Van Meteorological Department, at 7:00 a.m. on August 27, the flood on the Red River at Yen Bai station peaked at 32.13 m, 0.13 m above alert level 3.
It is forecasted that in the next 6-12 hours, the flood downstream of the Red River will drop to alert level 2, alert level 3. There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes in some localities in Lao Cai province.


According to the reporter's records in Yen Bai ward on the morning of August 27, localized flooding occurred on Thanh Nien street, Hoang Van Thu street, Kim Dong street, Hoang Hoa Tham street, Ho Xuan Huong street, the old Ben Do market section, with depths from 0.3m to 1m. About 100 households were flooded into their houses at a level of 0.5m.
Low-lying areas such as Hong Tan, Hong Phu, Hong Thai, Hong Thanh residential groups, Yen Bai ward have been receded but slowly, of which 15 households had to be urgently evacuated.




Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Phung Tien Thanh - Chairman of Yen Bai Ward People's Committee said: In order to proactively assess the occurrence of flooding situations, the People's Committee has issued notices, warnings, stretched ropes, set up checkpoints to notify people, guided, diverted traffic, and warned of locally flooded areas where vehicles cannot pass.
Organized a force of nearly 200 people including police, army, militia... to support the evacuation of 15 households to safe places, and support the relocation of assets for 100 households.



In addition, checkpoints and warnings have been set up at deeply flooded and dangerous points and construction sites on traffic routes. Coordinate with functional forces to be on duty and closely monitor the development of the flood situation.
In the coming time, the unit will continue to coordinate with the Hydrometeorological Station and relevant agencies to promptly grasp the developments of floods. Maintain a 24/7 standing force at the Ward PCTT-TKCN Command Board. Re-check all areas at risk of landslides, flooding, and unsafe housing to proactively plan for further evacuation if necessary.


In addition, continue to support the lives of evacuated households, providing essential necessities such as food, clean water, medicine, and blankets. Mobilize forces and means to drain water, clean the environment, treat waste, prevent epidemics after floods.
