Information from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue (PCTT-TKCN) of Lao Cai province, as of the morning of August 27, floods have caused a lot of damage to the traffic infrastructure system in Lao Cai, causing congestion and traffic insecurity on many national and provincial highways, commune roads and rural traffic roads.
In the communes of the old Yen Bai province, heavy rain caused flooding at 4 locations on National Highways 32C, 2D, 279 and 37, with 7 traffic congestion points. National Highways 32, QL37, Provincial Road 174, Provincial Road 173 through Van Chan - Yen Lap, Tram Tau - Bac Yen communes were all eroded with positive slopes with a volume of thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil. National Highway 32 alone recorded landslides at 10 locations, with a volume of 5,600m3.
In particular, some locations on the route connecting National Highway 32 with Provincial Road 174 have not yet been cleared for cars due to continued rain, making it difficult to repair.
In the communes of the old Lao Cai province, floods caused landslides on most national highways, provincial roads and commune roads. The most severe damage was in Ngu Chi Son, Trinh Tuong, Y Ty, Van Ban, Minh Luong communes...

According to statistics, there are currently 3 landslides on Provincial Road 155 (Sa Pa - Lao Cai) with a volume of about 1,546m3, causing local traffic congestion.

Immediately after the natural disaster, local road management forces mobilized machinery and human resources to fix the problem, clear rocks and soil, erect warning signs and try to clear the route as soon as possible. However, due to prolonged rain, the risk of landslides continues to occur, posing a high risk to traffic participants.
The authorities have advised people to limit travel on landslides or flooding, especially National Highway 32, National Highway 37, Provincial Road 155, Provincial Road 156 and some traffic routes. When traveling through areas with warning signs, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions of the authorities to ensure safety.
