On the morning of November 18, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Long Bien signed a report and said that Khanh Hoa province currently has 53 irrigation lakes and 11 hydroelectric lakes.
The southern region recorded many lakes discharging with large flows such as Song Cai 1,086.09 m3/s, Tra Co 25.87 m3/s, Ba Rau 37.87 m3/s, Tan Giang 73.91 m3/s, Nuoc Ngot 25.01 m3/s and Cho Mo 38.14 m3/s.
In the North, Hoa Son, Da Ban, Suoi Trau, Suoi Dau, Cam Ranh, Suoi Hanh and Ta Ruc lakes are also emitting from 4.1 to more than 136 m3/s.
From 7:00 p.m. on November 16 to 7:00 p.m. on November 17, the rainfall in the whole province reached 80250mm; in particular, the heavily affected areas such as Vinh Hy, Ninh Hai, Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Tay Nha Trang and part of Nam Nha Trang recorded rainfall of 300400mm.
Cam Ranh station measured 458.6mm, Cam Phuoc Dong 487.5mm.
Floods on major rivers are rising rapidly. On Cai Nha Trang River, the water level at Dong Trang station at noon on November 17 reached 12.24m, 1.24m higher than alert level III; Dien Phu station recorded 6.40m, 0.90m above alert level III.
Dinh River in Ninh Hoa will rise to 5.41m, exceeding alert level II by 0.41m. On Cai Phan Rang River, the water level at Tan My and Phan Rang stations both reached and exceeded alert level III on November 17.
It is forecasted that from the night of November 18 to November 22, Khanh Hoa will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places; common rainfall is 2050mm/ods, with some places in the West over 80mm.
Permanent Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Province Nguyen Long Bien has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review and inspect the safety of dams and irrigation systems.
In particular, flood discharge must be operated according to the correct procedures to ensure the safety of dams, limit flooding downstream, ensure water needs; coordinate with localities to count damage in the agricultural sector and propose support measures and restore production.
As of November 17, floods have caused damage to people and property. Regarding people, 7 people died, 1 person is missing and 19 people were injured.
Specifically, the landslide at Khanh Son Pass had 1 death, 1 missing person and 1 injured person; the landslide at Khanh Le Pass had 6 deaths, 18 injuries and 8 people being scratched.
