The new province is "running well"
From July 1, provinces and cities across the country will officially operate the new provincial government model after the arrangement and merger. In the new Gia Lai province - the second largest natural area in the country, the work of solving public service in 135 communes and wards has been implemented simultaneously, initially recording many efficiency.
However, despite careful preparation, the operation process in some places still has bottlenecks and is not comprehensive. This is understandable, because everything is still very new - from the government apparatus, the way of operation, administrative boundaries to development space.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that thanks to proactive identification, assessment of the situation and careful preparation of systems to handle public administrative procedures, the commune-level localities of the new province have been operating stably since the first day.
"However, it cannot be 100% perfect, because in some remote communes, there are still some small problems, but not significant. The province has established a separate group to monitor and promptly direct the removal of arising bottlenecks," said Mr. Tuan and affirmed that the government system has completed the conversion work and is "running well".
According to Mr. Tuan, before the merger of the two old provinces of Binh Dinh - Gia Lai, Binh Dinh had assigned socio-economic development targets and key tasks in 2025 to 58 new commune-level administrative units, including targets for commune-level Secretaries and Chairmen.
When the two provinces have "come home together", the new Gia Lai is urgently developing development indicators, assessing the potential and strengths of the remaining 77 communes and wards, to assign targets in July 2025, in accordance with the direction of Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung.
In the coming time, departments and branches will rebuild the work program and development indicators for the first 6 months of the year of each branch, to be completed in the first half of July. At the same time, the separate planning of the two old provinces will be merged into a master plan for the new Gia Lai province, in line with the potential, strengths and development potential of the locality.
targets - challenges for new commune-level Secretaries and Chairmen
As one of the key cadres assigned to the commune level in the new Gia Lai provincial apparatus, Mr. Le Tu Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Binh An commune - determined that this task is very heavy.
Because for him, from the position of Vice President of the old Binh Dinh Provincial Labor Federation to the new Commune Secretary, the nature of his work has changed a lot, especially in terms of scope, field of work and leadership. However, Mr. Binh still maintains the spirit of being ready to accept the challenge, determined to fulfill the assigned responsibilities.
According to Mr. Binh, the socio-economic development target assigned by the province to Binh An commune is built on the basis of merging the targets of the 4 old communes (Tay Vinh, Tay Binh, Binh Hoa and Binh Thanh), while adding targets arising from site clearance for the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project, resettlement areas...
"People in the Binh An commune apparatus all have the working spirit of "After work, not overtime; work must be done every day", and especially must be suitable for the actual situation, when the workload of the new commune is very large.
With the highest determination, Binh An commune will find a solution, make the most of local resources, and at all costs must successfully complete the targets assigned by the province. This is not only a task but also a challenge for each Secretary and Chairman of the commune," Mr. Binh affirmed.
haters are criteria for evaluating cadres
At the first session of the new Gia Lai Provincial People's Council (July 1), Mr. Ho Quoc Dung suggested that all leaders, agencies, units, especially heads of specialized agencies of the province must quickly get to work.
"In the coming week, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee needs to complete the assignment of targets to new communes and wards. Evaluate cadres based on assigned targets. Currently, the district level has been abandoned, if not assigned targets, not supervised, managed closely, and not skillfully, each commune and ward will become "a world" in operation", Mr. Dung suggested.
