Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) said that the pilot implementation from September 15 is to encourage passengers to pay cashless, thereby shortening waiting time and improving the train travel experience.
According to HURC1, instead of buying paper tickets at the counter, passengers are encouraged to use modern payment channels such as: automatic ticket vending machines/kiosks in stations, HCMC Metro HURC application, Miniapp Metro on MoMo, paying directly at the ticket gate by bank card, e-wallet or chip-embedded CCCD.
To ensure convenience, the stations have arranged support staff to guide passengers during the ticket purchase process. Initial records show that most passengers have received the information in advance and are willing to use new forms of payment.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 20 km long, connecting the city center with the eastern gateway.
After being officially put into operation at the end of 2024, Metro Line 1 currently serves more than 30,000 passengers per day.
