The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) has just issued an order to open 1 bottom discharge gate of Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir to proactively regulate reservoirs, ensure project safety and respond to flood developments in the Red River basin.
According to the telegram, at 6:00 AM on July 24, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang hydropower reservoir was at an elevation of 106.40m; the downstream water level was at an elevation of 50.41m.
At this time, the water flow to the reservoir reached 2,040m3/S, while the total discharge flow downstream was 708.93m3/S.
Based on the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Red River basin, the Minister of MARD ordered the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to open 1 bottom discharge gate at 4:00 PM on July 24.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to closely monitor the developments of rain and floods, water inflow to the reservoir, upstream and downstream water levels, and the safety status of works to operate the reservoir in accordance with regulations.
