Lang Son - Heavy rain, Ban Nhung hydroelectric reservoir increased flood discharge to more than 1,200 m3/s.

On the evening of September 29, Hai Ly Group - Ban Nung Hydropower Plant issued an urgent notice on continuing to open and operate spillway gates to regulate reservoirs.

According to the report, at 7:30 p.m. on September 29, due to the impact of heavy rain on the entire Ky Cung River basin, the water flow to Ban Nung Lake continued to increase.

To ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area, the factory was forced to release floodwaters with a total estimated flow of about 1,200 m3/s.

The total maximum flow could be up to 600 m3/s.

The authorities of Lang Son province are continuing to closely monitor the flood situation and operate flood discharge, and at the same time recommend that districts and communes in the downstream area prepare evacuation plans for residents in low-lying areas, along rivers and streams.

Previously, this hydropower plant opened a discharge valve to regulate the reservoir water.

In the past 2 days (September 28 and 29), Lang Son province has had moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. Maximum rainfall was up to 160 mm.

It is forecasted that from the evening of September 29 to September 30, areas in the province will have heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain and thunderstorms, from the night of September 30, the rain will gradually decrease. Rainfall is generally from 50 - 150 mm, in some places over 200 mm, warning of the risk of heavy rain (>100 mm/3h).
