A commune in Dak Lak has thousands of motorbikes and cars damaged by flooding

Dak Lak - Thousands of motorbikes and cars in Hoa Thinh commune were damaged by flooding.

On November 23, Mr. Le Trung Hien - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Thinh Commune Party Committee - said that the commune is urgently coordinating with units, departments, and people to urgently overcome the consequences of prolonged floods.

"The repair work is being carried out urgently. However, there are still no official statistics on how much damage is, said Mr. Hien.

Accordingly, on the same morning, we returned to Hoa Thinh commune - where people are also actively cleaning their houses and repairing motorbikes for transportation. From National Highway 29 (towards the headquarters of the Commune People's Committee, the headquarters of the Party Committee, the People's Council of the commune), motorbikes are parked on both sides of the road.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong (residing in Hoa Thinh commune) - owner of Chi Cong Motorcycle Shop - shared: For the past 2 days, people in the villages have brought hundreds of motorbikes to repair due to flooding.

"The number of cars coming for repair is too much, I can't remember exactly how many. I and the store staff worked hard from morning to night without finishing" - the store owner Chi Cong said.

Selling goods to wait for his turn to "save" motorbikes after many days of being soaked in water, Mr. Bui Quoc Dung (residing in Hoa Thinh commune) said that his family is a motorbike and gasoline trader. The recent heavy rain and flood caused the water to rise too quickly, leaving Mr. Dung's family unable to react.

"The water rose too quickly, 4 to 5 meters high, causing the family to not be able to save any property. As a result, motorbikes were soaked in water, gasoline and oil were flooded, and the gas station broke and could not be used for business. The flood caused about 300 million VND in damage to my family. Today, taking advantage of the receding water, I took my motorbike to the shop to rework so I could have a means to go to work" - Mr. Bui Quoc Dung said sadly.

Similarly, the family of Mr. Nguyen Kieu Thinh (residing at the same address) had 3 motorbikes that were constantly submerged in floodwater for 48 hours, causing the engine to "paralyze".

He said: "All of my family's means of transportation are no longer due to being soaked in water for many days. Today, I brought my child's motorbike to repair so that I can have a means of transportation. However, due to the large number of people bringing vehicles, we have to wait a long time for our turn.

According to Mr. Ta Tan Cong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Thinh Commune, the recent historic flood damaged many properties of the people, including thousands of motorbikes, even cars. "After the water receded, people started cleaning their houses and repairing vehicles to move. The commune is experiencing a power outage and there are no statistics on the damage" - Mr. Ta Tan Cong said.
