On September 8, information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Chi Lang district said that a landslide occurred in the area, causing 1 death. The victim was Mr. LVL (born in 1975, Lang Bu 1 village, Lam Son commune).
The storm also affected over 2,000 households in Chi Lang district, including 3 collapsed houses, 191 houses with blown-off roofs, 33 displaced households, and over 2,200 hectares of rice and crops flooded and damaged.
Heavy rains also caused severe flooding in the area near the Thuong River, Dong Mo town, Chi Lang district. Rising river water caused many houses to be deeply submerged.
Currently, authorities are still trying to help people move out of the dangerous area.
Also according to information from Lang Son Hydrometeorological Station, at 11:00 a.m. on September 8, the water level on Ky Cung River at Lang Son hydrological station was measured at 254.06m, 0.06m above alarm level 2.
It is forecasted that in the next 6 to 24 hours, the water level on the Ky Cung River will continue to rise and fluctuate according to the flood discharge level of the Ban Lai reservoir. The flood on the Ky Cung River is at a high level, which can cause flooding and subsidence in low-lying areas, affecting activities such as transportation, agricultural production, constructions, and residential areas along rivers and streams.
Faced with the above situation, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant agencies and units to focus on directing the evacuation of people and moving assets in areas at risk of flooding due to the discharge of floodwater from Ban Lai Lake, especially the districts of Loc Binh, Cao Loc, Van Lang, Trang Dinh, Van Quan and Lang Son city.
