On the morning of June 5, Mr. Va Ba Tinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province - said that prolonged heavy rain combined with flash floods caused serious landslides on National Highway 16 through the area, completely interrupting people's travel.
Since the end of May, the mainland border area of Nghe An province has continuously experienced prolonged heavy rains, causing flash floods and landslides. In Nhon Mai commune alone, the flood on the night of May 29 completely swept away 3 houses, 18 other households were flooded with mud, damaged property, and dozens of hectares of crops were destroyed.

In particular, on the night of June 4, heavy rain continued to cause severe damage to National Highway 16 at many points. According to statistics from local authorities, there were 6 serious landslides, of which in Co Ha village, the road surface was broken for tens of meters, making it impossible for vehicles to travel.
"The damage to National Highway 16 has caused traffic from the center of Nhon Mai commune to Tri Le commune (Que Phong district) to be cut off. The recovery work is expected to take a long time due to the large amount of landslides and complex terrain" - Mr. Va Ba Tinh informed.

Currently, the Nhon Mai commune government and functional forces are making efforts to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring safety for people and vehicles.
