The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has just issued a quick report on the natural disaster situation as of 6:00 p.m. on November 17. Currently, floods on the Bo River, Vu Gia River, and Tra Khuc River are fluctuating at high levels, from above alert level 2 (BD2) to above BD3. Floods on the Huong River, Thu Bon River, downstream of the Ba River and Krong Ana River are rising.
It is forecasted that from November 17 to 18, the area from Hue City to Da Nang City, the east of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak provinces will have rain from 200-400mm, locally over 700mm; Khanh Hoa area will have rain from 100-250mm, locally over 400mm; Ha Tinh to Quang Tri area will have rain from 80-150mm, locally over 250mm.
Regarding traffic situation: floods caused 86 locations to be flooded, causing congestion in Quang Tri; 28 locations were flooded, causing congestion in Hue. In Da Nang, National Highway 40B through Nam Tra My commune was eroded, cutting off traffic. In Khanh Hoa, 2 locations on National Highway 1A were flooded 0.2-0.5m deep; many locations on rural traffic routes in many wards/communes were flooded from 0.2-0.5m. In Quang Ngai, 3 locations on rural traffic routes were blocked by landslides.
Floods caused 1,416 houses/5,479 people in Quang Tri to be flooded; in Hue, 12,207 houses were flooded. Khanh Hoa has also evacuated 1,107 households/3,648 people from deeply flooded areas to safe places.
About people: Floods caused 12 deaths and missing people. In Khanh Hoa, 8 people died or went missing, including 6 people who died due to a landslide on a passenger car at Khanh Le Pass, National Highway 27C at 10:00 p.m. on November 8; 1 person died and 1 person went missing due to a landslide on the mountainside to a camp at Khanh Son Pass at 8:30 p.m. on November 16.
In Da Nang, 3 people are missing in Hung Son commune due to landslides in the rice field on November 14. Quang Tri has 1 person missing due to flood swept away while a truck driver passed through an area with a warning barrier at the A Rong Tren spillway, La Lay commune. In addition, Khanh Hoa has 19 injured people.
Regarding livestock farming: 341 livestock died and were swept away (Quang Tri: 41; Dak Lak: 300); 4,900 poultry died and were swept away (Dak Lak).
