The water level at many large hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region is at a high level, approaching the normal water level.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 1:30 PM on March 4, in the Northeast region, the hydropower reservoir in Tuyen Quang recorded a water level of 114.51m, about 5.5m lower than the normal water level (120m). The water flow to the reservoir reached 50m3/s, but no power generation flow at the time of synchronization of data has been recorded.

Meanwhile, in the Northwest region, many large hydropower reservoirs are operating with significant capacity.

Specifically, Lai Chau hydropower reservoir reached a water level of 294.85m, nearly reaching the normal water level of 295m. The water flow to the reservoir is at 433m3/s, and the power generation flow is 21m3/s.

At Ban Chat Hydropower Plant, the lake water level is at an elevation of 450m, 25m lower than the normal water level (475m). Although the inflow is only 24m3/s, the plant is generating electricity at a flow rate of 264m3/s.

Similarly, Huoi Quang Hydropower Plant recorded a water level of 369.47m, a water inflow to the reservoir reaching 295m3/s and a power generation flow of 73m3/s.

Notably, at Son La Hydropower Plant - one of the largest hydropower projects in the country - the reservoir water level reached 214.86m, approaching the normal water level of 215m. The water flow to the reservoir was at a high level of 957m3/s, while the power generation flow reached 449m3/s.

At Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, the reservoir water level reached 113.18m, about 3.8m lower than the normal water level (117m). The water flow to the reservoir reached 437m3/s and the electricity generation flow was almost equivalent, at 430m3/s.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather forecast for March 4th, due to the impact of cold air, the mountainous areas of the Northeast region will be cold; other areas of the North, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will be cold at night and in the morning. The lowest temperature in this cold air wave in the North and Thanh Hoa areas is commonly from 16 - 20 degrees C.

The area from Nghe An to Gia Lai has scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain.
