On the morning of December 12, continuing the 20th session, the Hanoi People's Council voted to pass a Resolution regulating fines for a number of administrative violations in the field of food safety in Hanoi (implementing Clause 1, Article 33 of the Capital Law).
The fines prescribed in this Resolution are for individuals, except for the provisions in some clauses which are for organizations. For the same administrative violation, the fine for an organization is twice the fine for an individual.
Accordingly, violations of regulations on general conditions to ensure food safety in the production, trading, and preservation of food, food additives, food processing aids, tools, packaging materials, and containers that come into direct contact with food can be fined up to 40 million VND.
Violations of regulations on food safety conditions in the transportation of food, food additives, food processing aids, utensils, packaging materials, and containers that come into direct contact with food will be subject to a maximum fine of up to 20 million VND.
Violations of regulations on food safety conditions in food service businesses in the form of ready-to-eat food processing establishments, food service canteens, collective kitchens; kitchens, restaurants, hotel and resort restaurants; food stores, shops, stalls selling ready-to-eat food, cooked food and other types of businesses that process and supply food are subject to a maximum fine of up to 30 million VND.
Violations of regulations on food safety conditions in street food business are subject to a maximum fine of up to 6 million VND.
Violations of regulations on food safety certificate are subject to a maximum fine of 120 million VND.
This Resolution comes into force from January 1, 2025.
