The South - The South will continue to have widespread heavy rain in the coming days, with the risk of localized flooding in urban areas and low-lying areas.

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that in the past 24 hours, the Southern region has experienced moderate rain, heavy rain with thunderstorms over a wide area. Some measuring stations recorded high rainfall, such as Tra On (Vinh Long province) 93mm, Dam Doi (Ca Mau province) 78.8mm, Hoi An (An Giang province) 77.4mm... Prolonged heavy rain caused local water stagnation in many low-lying areas, along the river.

It is forecasted that from 1:00 a.m. on November 3 to 1:00 a.m. on November 5, the South will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain, with total rainfall generally from 70-140mm, some places may exceed 140mm. Rain will be concentrated in Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Can Tho city and part of the provinces in the Southwest. From November 5 to 6, heavy rain will continue, with common rainfall of 50-100mm, some places over 100mm and may continue after that. The risk level of natural disasters due to heavy rain is determined at level 1.

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station warns that continuous heavy rains may cause flooding in urban areas, low-lying areas and areas along rivers and canals. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

At the same time, according to the Can Tho City Hydrometeorological Station, during the Ooc Om Boc - Ngo Boat Racing Festival in Can Tho City from November 3 to 5, the weather in the locality will have showers and thunderstorms at many times during the day, but not continuously; there will still be periods of reduced rain and intermittent sunshine to serve festival activities. In which, on November 5, the rainfall is forecast to remain widespread, with rain in many places, some places having moderate rain, heavy rain and strong thunderstorms.

During the rains, there will often be dangerous weather phenomena such as strong gusts of wind, tornadoes, lightning and localized heavy rain. Especially the rains that appear in the afternoon and evening. Localized heavy rain may cause flooding on some inner-city roads in Phu Loi and Soc Trang wards of Can Tho City.
