On the afternoon of November 24, Ho Chi Minh City authorities are urgently deploying the search for a young man (identity unknown) after he stabbed himself in the stomach and planted himself in the Saigon River from Thu Thiem 1 Bridge.
The incident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. the same day. Many people passing through Thu Thiem 1 Bridge, in Thanh My Tay Ward, suddenly witnessed a young man standing on the bridge wall, holding a short knife and stabbing himself in the abdomen, then quickly jumped into the river.
A witness said that he called for help from many people to stop the car, but could not stop them.
At the scene, witnesses recorded that the victim left a black knife about 15 cm long. As of 4:00 p.m. the same day, Ho Chi Minh City authorities were still trying to find the victim's whereabouts in the Saigon River.
