In the context of the supply chain of goods, especially food, still having many limitations, retail systems have stepped up control of goods quality. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented the program "Green Tick of Responsibility" to improve the quality and transparency in providing food to consumers.
Saigon Co.op participated with 3 pilot product groups: fruits, vegetables, and meat. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang - Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op - said: "If we detect a product that does not meet the standards, we will immediately stop circulating that product in the system and report to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City".
According to Mr. Vu Duong Quan - Head of Satra Retail System Management, the unit is encouraging suppliers to voluntarily register to participate in the "Responsible Green Tick" program.
The retail systems MM Mega Market, Aeon, Central Retail, WinCommerce, Bach Hoa Xanh, Kingfood Mart and Lotte Mart are also committed to providing transparent, safe and quality products, contributing to protecting consumers' health.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, the program "Green Tick of Responsibility" aims to orient production through market signals on the principles of voluntariness, transparency and honesty. The program has received consensus and is led by 9 leading retail groups in Vietnam. The program opens up opportunities to develop the market for products with transparent and safe production processes; at the same time, it contributes to preventing dirty products and poor quality products from reaching consumers. "Suppliers will choose reputable distributors and organize for them to register to participate" - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City said.
However, the program is still quite new, there are still very few suppliers registered to participate in the program, even if they participate, they are not ready to change the packaging with the "Responsible Blue Tick" label, so the level of consumer awareness is not high.
The “Responsible Green Tick” program, implemented in Ho Chi Minh City since March 2024, aims to control the quality of goods. Retailers cooperate and commit to eliminating poor quality products, forming a comprehensive monitoring system. Standard products receive specific support, participating suppliers voluntarily accept supervision and prevent defective goods. The program creates trust for consumers, is highly appreciated by retailers and is certified with the “Responsible Green Tick”.
