
On the morning of June 22, Nghe An Provincial Military Command held a conference to announce the decision of the Ministry of National Defense on the dissolution of the Military Commands of districts, cities and towns under the Provincial Military Command according to the model of organizing local government at 2 levels.
According to Decision No. 2786/QD-BQP dated June 14, 2025 of the Ministry of National Defense, Nghe An will dissolve 20 Military Commands of districts, cities and towns.
The dissolution of the District Military Command is part of the roadmap to restructure the local government apparatus, from 3 levels to 2 levels. This is a consistent step to realize the Central Government's direction on streamlining the organization, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of State management.

Colonel Dinh Bat Van - Commander of the Provincial Military Command said that along with the disolution of 20 Military Commands at district, city and town levels, Nghe An also established 5 Defense Area Command Committees under the direct leadership of the Provincial Military Command Party Committee. This is not a new administrative level but a specialized force, an "extended arm" of the provincial level, holding the role of commanding the armed forces in areas with large populations and important strategic positions.
The Military Command of the district, city and town level continues to operate the unit, performing tasks until June 25, 2025. The Regional Defense Command Committees will start operating from 7:00 a.m. on June 26, 2025.
At the conference, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Military Party Committee also announced and presented decisions on personnel work to the leaders of the Regional Defense Command.
