Amid the flow of technology, the exhibition The Art of Water has brought a creative approach to Vietnamese puppetry.

This morning, December 13, the exhibition "The Art of Water" officially opened at the Hanoi Creative Activities Coordination Center (Hanoi Museum), bringing the public a unique artistic experience, where traditional Vietnamese water puppetry is recreated and expanded with augmented reality (AR) technology.

AR technology at the exhibition allows the recreation of famous plays, thereby highlighting the soft movement of water puppet characters, the coordination between artisans, making viewers feel like they are entering a journey of multi-sensory discovery, where heritage and technology blend together.

Speaking at the exhibition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa - Director of the Hanoi Creative Activities Coordination Center - shared: "Along with a touchpoint of love and passion for traditional culture, the center has coordinated and agreed to accompany the Ngoc Thuy Dinh project organizing committee to organize today's event, I hope that the exhibition will be successful and receive a positive reception".

Starting from the spirit of loving traditional beauty, the Organizing Committee spent two months to come up with ideas and complete the foundation for the event.

''We hope to create an exhibition space that recreates the setting of a Thuy Dinh stage right in the heart of the Museum's campus. Bring traditional puppets such as puppets, soldier puppets, dragon puppets, ... with the desire that the water puppet art will not only be preserved but also continue to spread in contemporary life' ' ' ' ' '' said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa.

The exhibition has the participation of 2 typical puppet villagers, Mr. Nguyen Vien (artist from Dao Thuc water puppet village) and Mr. Pham Quang Huu (artist from Te Tieu puppet village). Those who have been preserving Vietnamese culture, bringing the traditional water puppetry closer to the Vietnamese people, especially the younger generation.

The first time experiencing water puppetry in an interactive space, many young people could not hide their excitement.

Nguyen Kieu Trang (Thai Binh) shared: ''I feel that this is a great approach, no need to go anywhere to learn and watch puppetry right on the internet through the application of AR technology. Thereby helping young people like us connect closer to traditional cultural values''.

The exhibition takes place on December 13 - 14, 2025 (from 8:00 to 17:00) at the Hanoi Museum.
