Da Nang - The durian seller accused by tourists of cheating was fined 7.5 million VND by the Police, for selling goods on the street in violation of regulations and parking cars on the road.

An Hai Ward Police, Da Nang City, have just made a record and issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against Mr. N.T. T. (50 years old, current residence in An Khe Ward, Da Nang City) - a durian seller related to the clip of tourists reflecting being weighed incorrectly in front of Son Tra night market.

According to functional agencies, at 8:16 PM on June 30, Mr. N.T. T. used a motorbike with license plate 89E1... to sell durian in the Vo Van Kiet street area, An Hai ward. Through inspection, functional forces determined that Mr. T. had the act of parking his vehicle on the road causing traffic obstruction; and at the same time selling street vendors on the road on a street with regulations prohibiting street vendors.

With the above violations, An Hai Ward Police issued a decision to fine Mr. N.T. T. a total amount of 7.5 million VND. Functional agencies also temporarily seized 1 vehicle registration certificate with license plate 89E1... to ensure handling according to regulations.

After working with the police, Mr. T. wrote a commitment not to re-offend.

Previously, on the evening of June 30, a clip circulated on social networks recording the scene of a group of tourists buying durian from a man in front of Son Tra night market, An Hai ward.

According to the content of the clip, tourists believe that the durian fruit only weighs about 1.5 - 1.7kg, but when the seller weighed and calculated the price, it was 4kg. When the buyer requested to weigh it again and reacted about the weight, the seller had a harsh attitude, with inappropriate words.

The clip quickly attracted many comments on social networks. Many opinions expressed outrage, saying that if the tourist's reflection is correct, then the act of weighing incorrectly needs to be verified and strictly handled to protect consumer rights and maintain the image of Da Nang tourism.

Immediately after receiving the information, leaders of An Hai ward directed functional forces to intervene. On the evening of June 30, An Hai Ward Police invited the durian seller involved to the headquarters to work, make a record and handle the identified violations.

Regarding this incident, on July 8, Da Nang City People's Committee said that it had requested to strengthen the management of street vendor activities in tourist areas and night markets, especially in Son Tra Night Market, Dragon Bridge area. The city assigned the culture and tourism sector to coordinate with the police and local authorities to inspect and rectify the situation of encroachment on roads and sidewalks, soliciting customers, and uncivilized behavior; thereby maintaining the image of a safe and friendly destination.
